Frequently Asked Questions

WINDOW CLEANING

Q. How soon can I be scheduled?
A. We can typically book customers within a week. However in April through December, it is best to call two to three weeks in advance to guarantee we can schedule you on your desired date.
Q. Do you have a standard price for a house of my size?
A. It is difficult to give a standard price because every house is different in the amount of glass, amount of ladder work, access to the glass, and types of windows. In most cases we can provide a very close estimate over the phone or e-mail. If you require an exact price, we can come to your location to provide a firm bid.
Q. Are tracks included in the window cleaning service?
A. We do wipe the tracks when cleaning the window but detailed cleaning is an additional charge. This is because they are very labor intensive to clean, and in most cases take longer to clean than the windows themselves.
Q. Do I really need to have the inside of my windows cleaned?
A. We strongly recommend that first-time customers clean both the inside and outside of their windows so they can fully enjoy the benefit of having their windows professionally cleaned, often the inside of the window is dirtier than the outside. Once we clean the inside of your windows, subsequent appointments may include only the outside for complete customer satisfaction.
Q. How often should I clean my windows?
A. This really depends on your preference, your type of house, and how exposed your house is to the elements. Some of our customers choose monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually. Generally, we recommend doing a full cleaning one to three times a year
Q. Do I need to be home for the window cleaning?
A. No, however we certainly would like to meet you on the first visit, but that is up to you. We prefer that you be home when we clean your windows for safety and accessibility reasons, and to make sure you are satisfied with our work. If for some reason you cannot be present during the scheduled time, we need to have some way of contacting you should questions arise.
Q. How do I prepare for you to come?
A. It is very helpful if you remove items from the windowsills. Although this is not required, it will save us a lot of time and is very appreciated.
Q. Do you move televisions, computers and other electronics in order to access windows?
A. Our cleaners are trained to work around them. Due to the liability risk, we cannot move complex electronic systems.
Q. Do I need to remove my curtains?
A. No. We can almost always work around them, but if there is a problem, the cleaner will discuss possible solutions with you.
Q. Does the weather affect the service?
A. We work year round, and our typical Northwest rain will not affect your windows. However, if there is a windy driving rain, snow or ice, it is best to reschedule.
Q. Do you charge extra for windows stained by hard water?
A. We charge hourly to remove hard water. It can be very time consuming and difficult to remove. Though there are many chemicals on the market, most do not work very well when there is extreme hard water damage. If you have any questions, ask the cleaner and he will make you aware of the options we offer and let you know if they would make a noticeable difference.
Q. Do you charge extra for paint, nicotine stain, silicone, or sticker removal?
A. Yes, like hard water removal, these can be very time consuming and difficult to remove. Talk to the cleaner before he begins the job about an accurate price for removal of these substances.
Q. My windows look foggy and/or there is moisture built up between them; can you get that off?
A. If it is in between your factory-sealed, double-pane windows, there is nothing we can do. You will most likely have to replace the window. There is a new defogging technology that may work in some cases, however we do not provide this service.
Q. Will cleaning the windows scratch or damage my window tint?
A. As long as the tint is at least 6-7 weeks old, it is very unlikely that our products or cleaning techniques will scratch or damage your tint. If it is questionable, our cleaners are trained to test the glass.
Q. Do I need to remove the screens?
A. No. We will take them off and reinstall them.
Q. Are you insured?
A. Yes. Visionquest is fully insured and bonded. Our agent can supply a certificate upon request.

GUTTER CLEANING

Clean, functioning gutters are very important for the long term health of your home. We hand clean all gutters and downpipes and haul away the debris. We can also clean the external surfaces of your gutters, providing an enhanced appearance of your home.
Q. What process do you use to clean the gutters?
A. Unlike some companies, we do not use a leaf blower to clean the gutters because this method is not always effective and can make a mess. We clean out the debris by hand, flush out the gutters with water and make sure your downpipes are clear. Depending on the pitch of your roof, we either work from the roof or use a ladder. We will leave the debris in your municipal yard waste container, or we will haul it away for you.
Q. Do I need to be home?
A. No. We only need access to the exterior of your home. We certainly would like to meet you on the first visit, but that is up to you.
Q. How far in advance do I need to schedule gutter cleaning?
A. April through December are our busy months, so it is best to plan two to three weeks ahead.
Q. Can I have my windows and gutters cleaned at the same time?
A. Yes
Q. When should I have my gutters cleaned?
A. In the fall after all the leaves have fallen. Additionally, whenever your gutters are obstructed, causing water to run over, they should be cleaned. Damage can occur to your home if water cannot flow out of your gutters properly.
